Taking time to reflect on the past week and prepare for the one to come has become an important and helpful tool for me. Journaling my self check-ins have inspired deeper gratitude and understanding of my moods, triggers, needs and areas that I need to work on.
I call it Moon Journaling and I have come to appreciate being able to look back on previous weeks to discover patterns and get valuable insight on moving forward as well. I take this "me time" to care for myself and encourage an inner voice that is supportive and gentle. A refreshing shower or luxurious bath with my favorite skincare products prompts me to meditate on acceptance and love for the body I am in. I always look forward to a cup of my favorite tea or coffee to further relax and engage more of my senses. I do remind myself that my moon journaling shouldn't cause stress, be an attempt at perfect attendance, or breed disappointment because I haven't had a ground breaking revelation. If my entry for a specific day is just a few hastily scribbled, anxious words then so be it. I get to honestly record the me that shows up and reflect on that later.
